We’re back for our second FNF @ at the rather upscale, but totally down to party, Beaumont Studios: an established venue for Vancouver’s art, theatrical, dance and music scene located on the corner of 5th and Alberta.
The only thing what makes this space better is the Friday Night Fever Sound System, Wicked DJs and a huge stack of wax and we’re bringing it all. Tell your friends this will be a good one.

All the way back to 1991, from his Zoo Boogaloo night at the Starfish Room , Cherry Bombs at Sonar during the latter half of the 1990s, the Big Sexy Funk night at Shine, the infamous Soul Kitchen with DJ Czech at Tommy Africa’s in Whistler and headline sets at Shambhala since 2000, Scotty’s been spinning records ONLY and finding that combination of different sounds that all revolve around one thing: Funk.

Steamboat Fattie
One guy who’s definitely got more bounce to the ounce, Mark’s been playing out for well over a decade that i know of. from his days hosting dance parties at his glorified downtown-eastside photo studio flophouse (if you remember – you weren’t there) to his years long residencies at Subeez and Falconetti’s and on up highway 99 to co-produce Funkoree for some of the luckiest people in BC – he is hands down one of the finest dance floor deejays Vancouver’s shaken it’s booty to. Ever. Look forward to a very deep and groovy, all-vinyl set where ravers & rockers collide in a Funk Sandwich!

The Stunt Man
is a recording engineer/DJ/producer based in Vancouver, BC, Canada. He has extensive engineering and production credits spanning many genres of music and has dj’ed clubs, parties and radio, all since the early 90s. Mostly known for playing funk, hip hop, 80s, disco and classic jams, Greg still prefers to play vinyl when the situation permits. Notable dj gigs include Vancouver club residencies such as: Friday Night Fever, Go Dumb!, Monday Night Live, also out of town tours including Shambhala, NASA and various international space conferences in the US and Japan, as well as playing with Canada’s finest dj’s in Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal and Halifax.

Rel!g!on
Born in Ottawa, Rel!g!on grew up listening to his father’s musical influence, which included a variety of instruments, singing, and an extensive record collection. Fascinated by keyboards and organs, the fledgling hip hop perfectionist began experimenting with records and a Casio SK 1, beginning the journey of honing his incredible skills. While he started with an old keyboard and entertaining diss tracks about his high school classmates, Rel!g!on rapidly progressed into a respected producer working with artists from Vancouver to New York.
The future is bright for Rel!g!on, as he shows absolutely no signs of slowing down, with a number of impressive projects currently in the works for hip hop fans across North America.

Whether rocking a dance floor all night or creating a chill, laid back groove – DJ Skoosha isn’t your typical DJ. With 8 years behind the decks DJ Skoosha has been playing all vinyl record sets at venues throughout San Diego and Vancouver. Keeping with the origins of DJing, vinyl is an integral part of her craft.
Skoosha’s specialty is quality Hip Hop (mostly 90s & underground) and Downtempo textured with layers of funk, jazz and soul. DJ Skoosha’s versatile sets also include Techno, Electro, House, and Dubstep. While those genres give you an idea of her style, Skoosha’s focus is on the quality of music.

Friday Night Fever’s favourite import with over 18 years experience as a dj, promoter and radio personality Dr.J has built a solid reputation in the industry, both nationally and internationally. Through his extensive knowledge of music and passion for his craft he has established himself as one of Canada’s premier disc jockeys. In addition to his numerous local and national residencies Dr.J produces and hosts the “Expansions” radio show on CFCR – a program devoted to funk, disco and hip hop music.

aka Lady Precise has been a singer, song writer in Vancouver for the last five years, recording two albums, one with the famed dubvibe studios- producer Daniel Elmes, kate grew up in a musically stimulating environment, with both parents being self supporting artists themselves, she starting singing at a very young age. Though having no real training, she has managed to open for the likes of Roy Ayers, Mix Master Mike, DJ Q-Bert, Spearhead & Swollen Members.

An original favourite from back-in-the-day and one of the city’s biggest DJ exports ever (last Friday he played @ Fabric in London), he’s coming to revisit the local decks from his new home in some Eastern European republic they’ve named after him.

It’s highly unlikely that you’ll catch him at a venue as intimate as ours until his casino comeback tour many years from now.

JUS DE POMMES – First Ever Vancouver DJ Appearance!!!!

When you hear the name Jus De Pommes dj’ing isn’t probably the first thing that comes to mind. You’re probably more likely to think of the popular beverage also known as “Apple Juice”. However “The Jus” is certainly no stranger to the game. Born in Hull, Quebec, he learned to Dj watching one of Ottawa’s most respected house dj’s, DJ Balu in the early 90’s…. He has played at world famous venues such as Spectra night club in (Gatineau, QC), Citi Club (Hull QC), Le Ruisseau (Hull, QC), Au Zone (Hull, QC), Broad St (Hull, QC), Chez Henri (Hull, QC), and made his disc jockeying debut playing the lunch show at Pigale strip club (99 Boul Greber, Gatineau, QC).

CARLYLE – Killed it at his last Friday Night Fever appearance

Dj Carlyle Mark is originally from the east coast of Canada and is now based out of Vancouver, British Columbia. He has been deejaying for over 20 years and has been producing and remixing music for over 17 years. He takes pride in mixing/blending music and his style can be classified as smooth and versatile. Although he is a lover of many genres of music, he loves to play old school/funk, classic/soulful house, vintage hip hop, soul, retro, rare grooves and original breaks…. leaving you with a feeling of nostalgia.
Considered a vinyl junkie, you can expect to see Dj Carlyle Mark dropping 12 inch records and 45′s. No cd’s or digital files, strictly analog.

REL!GION (He dj’ed a couple weeks ago and everyone keeps asking me “Who was that guy?!?!”)

RELIGION is the current rally cry surrounding the latest dj/producer, who’s already began dazzling artists and record labels with his skilled creations and innovative beats. Utilizing a fascinating mix of live playing and assorted sampling, the young producer from Vancouver, British Columbia is generating buzz in Canada as well as the U.S.

Rel!g!on is already releasing his own material, as well as working with other artists to build his reputation as a bona fide hit machine in the hip hop game. Released in January 2010, his first official release, Revelationz I garnered positive attention from reviewers and fans across the web. Featuring heavy hitters such as Chuck D of Public Enemy as well as Planet Asia and Moka Only, Rel!g!on’s first record was nothing short of an instant hip hop success. His inspired, imaginative tracks laid the foundation for ultra skilled MCs to spit their finest rhymes and create memorable, catchy songs. He’s been the resident Dj at The New Bohemian in Vancouver for three years and likes to play underground hiphop, funk, soul, indie rock, 80′s, and psych rock.

What’s happens after someone has spent years touring the dive bars of North America, sleeping on stranger’s couches, eating cigarettes and coffee for breakfast, honing their bass chops in bands that played everything from punk to jazz? They wise up, step out of the van, take their hard-earned musical lessons and become one of Vancouver’s premier DJs.
Woodhead’s climb to the top of Vancouver’s dj scene started in dark East Van warehouses and all night dance parties where he fused hip-hop, house and electro, gaining him exposure in Vancouver’s club scene. He’s now a resident DJ at the Lotus Lounge’s Signal Saturday for the last 4 years, where he plays all styles of House, Funky and Nudisco.
